Water Service
The City of Belen water resources are wells with a capacity of 5.5 million gallons per day. The average daily consumption is 1.2 million gallons with storage capability of approximately 4.3 million gallons per day.
Water Rates:
$13.77 for 1st 3,000 gallons.
$ 1.40 per 1,000 gallons over 3,000 gallons.
Water Quality Information

Sewer Service
Present capacity for the City of Belen sewage system is 1.2 million gallons per day. The treatment facility currently is approximately 75 percent loaded and is designed to be easily expanded.

Sewer Rates - Residential:
$16.27 for 1st 3,000 gallons of water use.
$1.40 per 1,000 gallons over 3,000 gallons of water use.

Sewer rates- Commercial:
Based on water consumption.

RIO COMMUNITIES

New Mexico Water Service Company serves the Rio Grande Industrial Park in Valencia County.

Water Service
Meter size determines basic cost; i.e.,
2" meter is $70.32 per month, plus $1.24 per 1,000 gallons up to 63,000 gallons; 63,001 and over is $1.68 per 1,000 gallons.

Sewer Service
Meter size determines basic cost; i.e.,
2" meter is $87.50 plus $1.56 per 1,000 gallons up to 20,000 gallons; 20,001 gallons and over is $1.95 per 1,000 gallons.
 

Electrical Service

Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM), headquartered in Albuquerque with a district office in Belen, has abundant, reliable electric capacity to easily meet the needs of new and expanding business. Power is supplied to the Valencia County area by 115 kV and 46 kV transmission lines. PNM offers a system of electric incentive rates to qualifying customers. Average Cost/kwh: ___ cents

PNM owns or leases 1,521 MW of net generation capacity and has a 20-year contract for the entire output of a new 132 MW gas generating plant located in the Albuquerque area. Their historic system peak was hit on 15 August 2000. Demand on that date was 1,368 MW. PNM places a high degree of emphasis on reliability of electric service and has maintained a 99.985 percent average reliability record over the past ten years.
 

Natural Gas Service

Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) is the provider of natural gas service. Because New Mexico is the fourth largest gas producer in the nation with the second largest reserves, low-cost natural gas service is provided to Belen and Valencia County. Average Cost/therm ___ cents.

There has not been a total interruption of service in the Albuquerque market in almost 43 years. Although industrial and commercial users are curtailable, interruptions have been relatively few and of short duration. Standby fuels are recommended for interruptible customers.
 

Telecommunications Service

Qwest is the local provider for any telephone service.
McLeod Telecommunications is also available.
All cell phone companies service the Belen area.
Bandwidth.com sells Voice over Internet Protocol.
Several other providers offer high-speed broadband capabilities, including Comcast (digital cable).
