University of New Mexico Valencia Campus
The campus is located in Tome, just 10 miles north of Belen. The Valencia Campus, a branch college of UNM, is an open-access, student-centered institution which offers a variety of associate degrees, certificate and credential programs.

University of New Mexico
The University of New Mexico, founded in 1889, is 30 miles north in Albuquerque. It boasts more than 26,000 students and faculty includes a Nobel laureate and offers more than 210 certificates and degrees.

Central New Mexico Community College
Formerly TVI, Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), is located just 30 miles north of Belen. CNM is New Mexico's largest and most comprehensive community college. For 40 years, we have built a reputation for preparing people for rewarding careers in the community, and our programs continue to grow and evolve to provide workforce and career-technical training for New Mexicans.
There's something for everyone at CNM's five locations across the Albuquerque metropolitan area -- Main Campus near downtown; Montoya Campus in the northeast heights; the South Valley Campus; the Westside Campus; and the CNM Workforce Training Center.
Occupational training courses include more than hands-on skill-building (although there's plenty of that). They also offer associate's degrees and certificates in:

New Mexico Tech
New Mexico Tech is a state-supported, coeducational institution offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in science, engineering, and technology related fields. Located in the central Rio Grande valley city of Socorro, New Mexico, New Mexico Tech is an easy thirty minute drive south of Belen, New Mexico. New Mexico Tech has an enrollment of 1800 students, with a 12 to 1 student faculty ratio.
